Gord Watts Joins Provance Technologies

Gord Watts
VP of marketing
Provance Technologies Inc.

Provance Technologies Inc., a developer and marketer of IT service- and asset-management solutions, has announced the hiring of Gord Watts as vice president of marketing.

The company, which signed a corporate-wide agreement with Lockheed Martin in April, said the hiring of this executive was the first phase of a plan to facilitate continued strong growth and expansion in the coming months.

New imperatives for IT to become more aligned with business objectives, to implement stronger governance through best practices and to meet stricter compliance regulations have significantly increased demand for Provance?s software. In the past fiscal year, the company?s revenue has grown by 50% and the number of employees increased by 25%.

Provance?s IT Services and Asset Management Suite allows IT service providers and telecommunications providers to increase revenue, reduce costs and improve customer satisfaction. The software encompasses five different components: IT asset portfolio management, service portfolio management, IT service request management, configuration management database (CMDB) and IT Business Performance Management (ITBPM.) Within each of these modules is a wide array of associated processes and activities that integrate to create the holistic Provance product offering.

Analysts are predicting substantial growth in the IT service-management sector and are tracking Provance as a player in this space. ?Provance?s perspective on the integrated provision of information about the IT environment makes it well positioned to offer a well-rounded picture of IT for the business and thus contribute to a closer alignment of IT resources with business objectives,? according to Margaret Tanaszi, IDC global manager, IT Value Metrics and Measurement.

In her September IDC study on integrated software for IT services, assets, performance, and cost management, Tanaszi highlights Provance?s contribution to improving IT management and enhancing IT value in the organization. ?Provance gives customers the opportunity to not only effectively ?run the business of IT? but also clearly demonstrate to the organization the contributions and costs of ?running the business with IT.??

?Our strong recent performance and the large and rapidly growing market for our software solution means that Provance is poised for tremendous success,? said Gilles Lalonde, president and CEO of Provance. ?Gord brings additional depth and expertise to the skilled team of executives and employees we?ve assembled to ensure we make the most of our abundant opportunity.?

?Provance has an exceptional product, an impressive list of customers, and tremendous marketplace momentum,? said incoming marketing vice president Watts ?A ramp up of the marketing function will drive further success and ensure Provance receives the attention and adoption that is long past due.?

Immediately prior to his position at Provance, Watts was marketing vice-president with GridIron Software where he was the first executive hire of a highly entrepreneurial startup focused on developing and successfully bringing to market an emerging new software technology.

Watts has held marketing positions with graphics software company Hemera Technologies and enterprise business performance management software vendor Cognos. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (Economics) from Queen's University and a diploma in radio broadcasting from Loyalist College.

Provance has offices in the US and Canada. Both new positions will be based out of the Gatineau office in Canada.

Provance develops and markets IT service- and asset-management software that enables Global 2000 companies, government organizations and IT outsource providers to improve visibility into their operations and gain tighter control of their costs while dramatically improving IT service delivery to their end-user customers.

Provance?s unique approach to IT infrastructure management adopts a utility model that automates request management and service charge-back to users. Through enterprise integration, Provance helps IT organizations eliminate redundancy and automate business processes while gaining greater visibility so they can accurately predict, easily report on and better manage the total cost of IT services and assets.
